I’m Candice Black, a creative from South Wales, UK. Creating weird art drives my creative practice forward. I create weird art as my experiences of trauma and mental illness have changed my perspective of reality. I experiment with different ideas, tuning into representations of emotion and thought.

As a mixed-race, disabled, Welsh, female: my creative work has been a lifeline through challenging experiences. With the development of my practice, I have worked into themes of embodiment, rebellion, and self expression. Addressing trauma has been a large part of my work. Through this experience I have found the reality of living with a mental health condition to be multi faceted. I’m curious about the spiritual world, folk lore, and the supernatural.

My creative work makes use of symbolism, expresses emotion, and explores difficult subject matter. I aim to continue growing and developing my creative practice.
